We booked a standard room, we're upgraded to a corner "Spectacular Suite"! Separate living and sleeping area. Best view, but a smoking room. Wasn't horrible. ( The newly redesigned Spectacular Suite offers a full one-bedroom residential retreat with W signature mattress in king, queen, or two double beds and 42" flat screen plasma TV. This light, airy room offers 650 square feet to spread out and feel at home.) In-room High Speed internent is 14.00 a day.
Tip: Always good to join hotel loyalty programs, in this case Starwood SPG Program.
Great service at this hotel, (but not so much at the pool).
Tip: Forgot your toothbrush?, most every hotel will supply you with the necessities for free, toothbrush, toothpaste, razor etc. just ask.
The Pool ~ small, kid packed... pool noodles and beach balls. Outdoor bar and restaurant adjacent. You help yourself with your lounger cover and towel. Hostess servers walking about for drinks and eats. Nice outdoor co-bathrooms (no signage) (see photos) Cabanas available for rent. Pool was chlorinated, decent temp, a lil' cloudy. I felt like I was in someone's OC backyard. (see wood fence photo)
*Di by the Sea had an admirer, can you spot her in my photos?
For dinner we ordered in-room service from the Ninethirty restaurant: Blue cheese bacon burgers (meat had a burnt taste), tomato soup, mixed green salad w/ basalmic, mac n' cheese w/ garlic bread crumbs... good food.
Day 2, pool service was aweful, 2 hours without a single offer of service... after stopping the pool girl and asking for just a glass of ice, it took her 15 minutes and a second reminder before she came thru. I still tipped her, $2 bucks, just my style...
Ahhhh, NEW girl just saved the day! (writing this post as it's happening) Very sweet, ask if I needed anything. Now that's more like it.
The do have a little area set up next to the pool, water w/lemon slices, self help.
Used the hotels common area called the LIVING ROOM | WIRED, where they have nice tables and desks, computers for rent if needed, to do some blogging. The front desk offers complimentary coffee at beginning at 4am and they had some nice punch and sweets, brownie, lemon cake bites, layed out, which I nibbled on while blogging. :)
All in all it was a nice little stay. I am still a die-hard W Hotel fan! P.A.W ~ Pet's are Welcome!

Knowing now that they are reading this I wanted to add a few other things that I didn't mention, since they are relaying info back to HQ's.
Had trouble finding an outlet that actually had power, to plug in my laptop, two tries were dead players, finally found one. (1 in pillar adjacent to small desk and the floor outlet under the desk.) (see photo) in the Living Room.
Issues with elevators not working. Seemed as though the middle one was the only one running. The bell hop who was stuck with me waiting, a good 10 to 15 minutes, finally called in to maintenance via his headset. I finally lost my patience and asked where the stairs were as I was only needing to go up 1 flight of stairs. He was super sweet and helpful, I might add.
THANKS for the Twitter response W! Now that's great customer service!
