The Riviera Palm Springs Resort & Spa is considered one of the most legendary Palm Springs hotels, featuring $75 million dollars worth of renovations. A Noble House property. (2008)
We originally were going to go for the Le Parker Meridien (a Starwood Property) but this property just looked more swanky and boutique, more our taste as far as decor for about the same price. Friends of ours have invited us here a few times to join them on their annual trip, but we had never been able to check it out until now.
What a great place to treat Mr. Wacker to for Father's Day !
We reserved a standard garden view room, originally for $135.15 night plus tax and resort fees. Luckily I was "Liking" their facebook page on the following day, when I came across a post on their wall for a 90 days of Summer Promotion they were offering, (which was not on their website). I re-booked the same room with the promo code 90DAYS and got it ! Saved me 104.40.!
It pays to play on facebook. :) YOU CAN GET THIS DEAL TOO!
We booked a King Graden/Mountain View ...

The pool view room was cute ! ... pool view (which meant a peek-a-boo view of the pool area through trees) Energizing decor colors, hip, stylish accents. Marilyn art on the wall. It wasn't long before we were dressed in our swim wear and heading out the door.
Our room was adjacent to the family pool called the Deep End Pool the water temperature was perfect. Very laid back, quiet, only one small family and a group of girls to be found. [Menu] The drinks are named after famous ladies like Marilyn, Nancy, Connie .... Luckily some older adult males were coming through and gave my husband the heads up on another pool on the other side of the hotel so off we went to explore.
The other pool, called the Main Pool (Located between buildings 4 and 5 also containing a pool bar called the Bikini Bar with outdoor living room lounge atmosphere serving light BBQ fare and cocktails). [Menu] This pool was packed on Sunday the night of our arrival. Music bumpin, pool filled with orange bean bag pool floats (rent for $20.00 per day) *Tip: if you hang out till about 4:00p the pool starts to clear out and you can grab one of those float left behind for a good hour +) this pool was all about the couples. It felt like I was in VEGAS !! What stays in PS stays in PS. PS I LOVE YOU and your friends too !? ... There was an escort/stripper girls working her stuff for a group of about 5 men. Butta face, scantily clad swimwear, hi-high heels and all. Straights and gays... it was all there for the viewing, the pool water was murky !!!! ) Don't ingest the pool water, whatever you do !
The cabanas are also named after the great ladys of the era, they remained pretty much unoccupied the entire time we were there. To reserve: Poolside Cabana Info: 760.778.3361
The pool/bar staff were super nice. Waitresses too, they come to you.
*Tip: Frank’s Cocktail Hour & Flag Raising Daily - 50% off Riviera Signature Cocktails from 4pm - 5 pm
The Riviera pool at night : At night, the illuminated pool area of the modernist Riviera Resort transforms into a white-hot cocktail party, complete with oversized futons, creative cocktails and sarong-clad servers. Once inside, the crowd revels in the panoramic view of the sleek and modern decor and incredible people-watching. An authentic, hand-woven thatched hut above the pool deck serves as the main bar, casting a golden glow on the scene.
Sidebar : We never got around to checking this bar out.
The In-room service was okay, mostly the menu from the Circa 59 Restaurant.
The Kaiser Family Restaurants group (they own 5 of the main restaurants on the strip) had a 20th Anniversary Special prix fixe 3 course dinner : $20.00 2 burgers, a large basket of parmesian truffle fries and 2 beers) We went with 2 of the GRiND, grass fed beef burgers, cambozola cheese & caramelized onions, I threw on a fried egg for 1.00 more on mine.
We were in bed by 9:00p ! Free things to see were the new larger than life Forever Marilyn statue and the Walk of Stars...
(the last time we were here about 2008 we saw the Palm Springs Follies (a world-famous, Broadway-caliber celebration of the music, dance, and comedy of Mid-Century America with a cast old enough to have lived it!) it was still there.
The word on the street is to eat at ... Las Consuelas Mexican restaurant..perhaps next time.
The third day was back to the pool, the guests attending seemed to get less as each day passed. On this day we enjoyed some of the Resort Venues :
Spa Terre : was really beautiful, clean, quiet. Father's day gift for Mr. Wacker : a Massage Medly (A customized massage with Swedish and deep tissue techniques combined to create a personalized massage experience) Mr. Wacker, says it was awesome ! (my photos don't do it justice)
Circa 59 Restaurant: We sat outdoor by the pool, food was great, service too ! Caprese salad (with an asian twist) sesame cracker, yum. Chicken sandwich with aoli sauce, burger and parmesian fries ! [menus]
Starlite Lounge : Only open Fri-Sat 4-5 for Club atmosphere fun. We didn't get around to checking it out.
The FourSquare offers were abundant for this place. The hotel itself offered a check-in deal as well as most of the hotels venues from the pools, bars, lounges and spa !
We scored 6 free drinks 10.00-12.00 a pop!), a free massage (130.00 value), free entree (12.00).
And YOU CAN TOO !
(If we had done it right and both checked in from day 1 on our own phones, we would have received another free massage and 2 bottles of champagne and 2 more drinks as well :) It pays to check-in on FourSquare ! Foursquare Freebie VALUE we received= $200.00+ Possibilities for 2 people checking in = $400.00+

Negatives were the wear and tear on the pool tiles.
Rumor has it that they will begin a million dollar refurbishment this month !
an addition of a 3rd pool and other amenities,
[Read about it here]
Other things like plastic cups, beer cans, straws left in the pool. (I would suggest getting rid of the clear cups and replace with a colored one so the employees can see them and fish them out.) The trees snow debri all in the pool and on you while you lay about, the pool water is very murky, chlorinated and super drying! Jacuzzi was dirty and then closed for cleaning ! Lot's of flies around the bar and food areas. It took 4 hours for someone to clear our empty/dirty food trays. Our Junior suite was left a bit dirty, finger printed doors, empty beer bottles on our patio from the guest before. All easy fixes.
NO bottles of drinking water (for free or purchase) in the rooms ! ? (110 weather)
The front desk new nothing of the FourSquare so it was a bit of a hassle to get the check-in special massage treatment taken care of.
