Barcelo Bavaro Palace Premium - All Inclusive Resort

This resort is so large they have trams to take you to one section or another, felt more like a large compound. There are 5 resorts on this property all sharing on grounds a golf course, baseball field, pools, disco-teque, casino, 7 restaurants just to point out a few of the accommodations.
The rooms are very nice, decor modern and up to date. In room amenities, bags of lays potato chips, orange fanta soda, apple juice, beer and more. The usual toiletries provided in addition to tooth brushes with floss, shoe shine, razors.
Rooms come with Jacuzzi tubs (the kind you can drain and add fresh water to on each use, they re-fill pretty fast), the tubs sit outdoor on your deck. Nice. Ours had an ocean view! They have an automized privacy shade that you can pull down with a push of a button.
After the second night we started get this god aweful sewage smell coming in from the walls from our bathroom and near our beds... we ended up changing rooms to a higher level and closer to the sand.
At this resort we spend the entire time at the beach, everyday. I didn't snorkel but the first day, just wasn't snorkel material for us, it's mostly a swimable beach, not really any coral reef to speak about. We mostly just layed about tanning on loungers, walked the beaches as far as we could go. Ate at all the restaurants within the compound. Enjoyed mas tequila, we friended Chanel, a bartender and she hooked us up quite nicely, being ALL-INCLUSIVE, you can buy drinks for anyone... hee hee!
Beach: The beach at the resort, brown soft sand, darkish turquoise waters, both littered with sea grass. Beach loungers, umbrellas and crops of palm trees ran the run of the long beach, quite a tropical paradise on the sand. The water was a bit merky for snorkeling, didn't see any fish.
Being all-inclusive the beach toys offered up were the usual kayaks, paddle-boats but to our surprise there was one exception, windsurfing boards with sails. No raft mats or floats provided.
You are on your own for bar runs, I recommend picking a lounger next to the water-toy hut, main bar and water front for the BEST SPOT!
Miles of beach to stroll, but you will run out. There are points on both ends with warning signs to stop and go no further for your safety. (photos in the album)
A unique site we encountered visually but did not get around to finding out about was an airplane-boat (see photo album for images) I googled it for anyone interested.
Unfortunately, I was pretty much linked to the bathroom most of the trip, caught disinteria from god nows where! THAT WAS A FIRST and hopefully a LAST!
