Where: Lincoln Center and around NYC
When: September 8th - 14th 2011
Why: To find out the next big things in Fashion for Spring
Who: Designers, Hair, Makeup, Nail people, Photographers, press, fashionistas and the like.
I chose to attended just two, Viewed the behind the scenes happenings and the runway show itself.
Hours of prep and labor for hair and makeup for but a mere 20 minute catwalk!
These are the shows ...
Kvork Kiledijian - up and coming at Milk Studios in Soho. A more casual atmosphere. Female clothing.
Perry Ellis - Needs no explaining. Hunks! A bit more chaotic.
You enter the stores for some free Champagne, goodies and special promotions, raffles. Some have DJ's spinning, others have live bands playing. Mobile trucks doing manicure from Creative Nail Designs, with their newest nail product.s People are dressed from casual to all out fashion funky. It's crazy energy. There were half naked models in some of the windows like Calvin Klein, sporting underwear & lingerie. Betsey Johnson was giving out free pink yoplait yogurt. We walked up and down the streets, into stores checking out what was going on inside. Diane Von Furstenberg was there tying perfume soaked ribbons on guests wrists. We had free photos taken and printed by some of the stores via photo booths that were set up. They sell the FNO official Tshirts in the stores and profits go to charity. I got mine at Hugo Boss. We had zero chance of seeing the Victoria Secret Models, the line was insane and you had to puchase something as well. .... so and so had Cupcakes so get there early! The night only goes until 11:00p and some stores shut down earlier. There are all kinds of interesting characters in the stores and along the streets and NYC finest are out there to protect and serve.
Seriously though, it's just way to hard to get to everything and all over the place. If you check out my Lifestyle Trending pages you will see websites with tools and information on how to map out, decided where to go, who will be in what end of town, apps for getting around and keeping up with all of it for next year. I'm sure going to be there. It's just way too much fun!
