The beach had white powdery soft sand, clear turquoise blue waters, you could see trumpet fish playing in the small swells as they rolled in. This was during labor day week, and there was no one on the beaches!
We took an tour over to Chitzenitza Mayan ruins, to a cave/underwater hole with red catfish swimming about, the water is so dark, you can't see them, a lil' freaky!... you can jump in off of the rocks, or wade in. A Mayan lunch and dance performance and shopping were included, that took an entire day due to the long drive to and from the ruins.
Another excusion that was a half day away was a guided snorkeling tour ...
