I started off by googling all kinds of searches on various topics related to homes in the Bahamas, both interior and exterior and found some interesting decor sites for island style decorating ideas as well as for purchasing elements and furnishings for your home.
Here are just a few:
I also shared photos from some from my personal trips to other caribbean islands like Bermuda and our recent trip to Eleuthera (see my post, Eleuthera, Bahamas 2011 for the Cove Resorts take on Bahamian style: http://www.thecoveeleuthera.com/).
Based on my travels, depending on the island you visit you will see similar style, with slight differences in roof shape, tint of hues, but all in all the exteriors are pretty consistent and basic. The interiors are mostly white, white walls with white linens. If you stay in resorts of course you will get interior designers ideas of bahamian style with accents of color in the resort accessories and furnishings designed to interest the guests and create an energy about the resort.
Below are some of the images I talked about from online and my collection of both interior and exterior homes in the Bahamas, cool, pastel color themes, white cottage linens, lace, wicker with organic touches.
(reminded me more of what I saw in Antigua/Barbados)
I had zero luck in my online quest for books on Bahamian style. But you might have some luck by just going into your local library and/or book store.
Here's a great article from Frommers on Bahamian Art & Architecture: http://www.frommers.com/destinations/bahamas/0205023217.html

I hope this post helps you a little Nicole.
Anyone feel free to share your comments, suggestions, info and photos if you come across any great sights, books etc on Bahamian style.
In my search for Bahamian style decor, I found out that there are a variety of styles out there to be inspired by, Caribbean flair, plantation, tahitian, hawaiian, south pacific, colonial, french provencial and on and on.
All this re-searching got me to thinking...
What can you do if you want to create an environment for yourself, around your idea of the perfect island style.
What if you can't decide on just one style, you like them all and if you are like me, more of an ecclectic, you might want to mix it up!
This brought me to my next blog idea, sharing my personal style inspirations and taste for island decor on a BUDGET! ~ Check back!
